Between Sarlat and Les Eyzies this 13th century castle was destroyed during the 100 Years war and rebuilt in 1450. Haunted by the ghost of the White Lady (Therese de Saint-Clar) who was imprisoned in the north tower by her jealous husband where she died and was entombed within the walls. Her ghost is said to roam the castle and has been seen by various visitors.

The most visited garden in the Perigord, Marqueyssac is a celebration of boxwood topiary with three main paths over 6km. With an 18th century castle, the gardens offer stunning views of the valley from Beynac to La Roque Gageac. Although one of the most peaceful places in the area, there are plenty of adventure activities for kids.
